The Junior Chamber International (JCI)
The Junior Chamber International (JCI) is the world's largest network of young leaders and entrepreneurs. It is committed to develop ways to recognize young achievers in these areas specifically young entrepreneurs.
The JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (JCI CYEA)?
The JCI CYEA gives tribute to talented young entrepreneurs worldwide by providing an avenue to unleash their creativity, the competition in return supports the JCI mission. Furthermore, the participating chapters will have an opportunity to enhance their status in the community that will lead to the development of their leadership skills and strengthening the relationship with the other communities.
- Who is JCI looking for?
The JCI CYEA is searching for young entrepreneurs who have put up a business by using creativity in product development, service development, and in their market approach. It also considers entrepreneurs who took over an existing business, and integrated creativity to solve a problem, or introduced a change in the business process resulting in growth of the business.
- General rules of the JCI CYEA program
Men and women between the ages of 18 and 40, not necessarily JCI members, can join the contest. Contestants must be less than 40 years old on the date of the awarding ceremonies. Nominees born before January 1, 1968, are not eligible for the Creative Young Entrepreneur Award.
A nominee must be either an owner or manager who has prime role for the recent operations of a privately-owned business. He/she must be a citizen or a permanent resident of the Philippines.
- Submission process
All nominations must be submitted online only using the online nomination form available at www.jci.cc/cyea. The nomination form is downloadable and printable to enable nominators prepare the nomination prior to entering it online. Nominations received in any other format will be disqualified.
To be eligible, nominations must be done in English. Answers must not exceed the limits shown for each question. All allowed information must be included in the online nomination form. Participants must provide an electronic photograph to JCI-Philippines. The electronic copy must be at least 600 dots per inch and should only show only the head and shoulders of the nominee.
All international semi-finalists must be willing to travel to the JCI World Congress in New Delhi, India on 4-5 November 2008, and will be required to provide an affidavit certifying to the veracity of the information in the nomination form. JCI will shoulder the travel and accommodations of the three finalists whose achievements as creative entrepreneurs will be recognized.
- Nomination and Award Process
All qualified entries received online will be passed to JCI-Philippines and entered into a national open pool competition. Twenty finalists will be chosen from the open pool by JCI-Philippines. Then, the national organization will hold a competition between all semi-finalists, with the top three semi-finalists advancing to the international competition.
Three international semi-finalists will be selected from all national semi-finalists submitted by countries running competitions, and three semi-finalists from the international open pool consisting of all entries from countries that don't have a competition. The three semi-finalists will travel to the JCI World Congress in New Delhi, India on 4-5 November 2008 where the overall winner will be selected.
